QUEBEC — Quebec foodservice supplier Saputo is putting on the heat, running a competition to name Canada’s favourite pizzeria.
Charlottetown’s Famous Pepper’s Pizza is the current leader in the running.
“It’sd mean a lot, obviously, to us. My dad started this business in little old Cardigan nine years ago, and I don’st think he thought it could become this,” Jocelyn Mitchell, the co-owner of the restaurant, is quoted as saying by CBC News.
The contest is open to Saputo’s clients. Seven prizes will be awarded, including the grand prize, valued at $10,000 and one year’s worth of free Saputo Pizza mozzarella cheese as well as three consolation prizes and three participation prizes.
Other restaurants in the running include: Antonino’s Pizzeria in Vaughan, Ont; Tom’s Pizza in Baddeck, N.S. and Atlas Pizza in Torbay, N.L.
The winner will be announced in January.
