VAUGHAN, Ont. — Pizza Hut Canada has provided an update on the health-and-safety actions implemented to date in response to COVID-19.

“The health and safety of Pizza Hut Canada employees, delivery partners and customers is our number-1 priority. We continue to work closely with our franchisees to adapt our response to COVID-19, incorporating guidance from governments and leading health authorities, in order to safely continue to provide Canadians with the food they love,” says Tatiana Carrascal, Pizza Hut Canada president. “We also want to recognize and thank those front-line workers who continue to work tirelessly to keep Canadians safe and healthy during this time, which is why we’ve launched a free pizza service for these local heroes. On behalf of Pizza Hut Canada, we thank you.”

The pizza chain continues to adapt and evolve its response to COVID-19:

Hiring for all roles due to increased demand – Pizza Hut is actively hiring across its Canadian network of restaurants, including in-store team members, supervisors, managers and delivery drivers/riders.

A $70,000 donation to Food Banks of Canada – Pizza Hut Canada, together with sister brands Taco Bell Canada and KFC Canada, donated $70,000 CAD to Food Banks Canada’s COVID-19 Response Fund for Food Banks to support the essential work they carry out across the country. The donation will be used to bulk purchase and distribute food and share resourcing to continue their critical work in local communities.

Supporting frontline workers – Pizza Hut has launched a free pizza-delivery initiative for frontline workers across Canada. Franchisees are working closely with frontline organizations, such as hospitals, clinics and fire stations, within their local communities to deliver more than 5,000 pizzas free-of-charge to those who are working hard daily to keep Canadians safe.

Contactless delivery and carryout – All delivery and takeout orders are now contactless across Canada to help keep employees and customers safe, and ensure every order is delivered with care.

  • Delivery: Upon arrival, Pizza Hut drivers will ring the doorbell without directly touching any surfaces, place the order on a small platform, designed to keep the food off the ground, step back 10ft, then collect delivery platform once customers are back inside.
  • Takeout: Upon arrival at their local Pizza Hut, customers will see their local stores contactless takeout instructions posted on the door. Store teams will follow all necessary measures to ensure a safe contactless experience.
