TORONTO — Pizza Nova’s chicken wings are now sourced from chickens raised without antibiotics (RWA) — making it the first Canadian pizza company to take on such an initiative.

Pizza Nova’s introduction of RWA chicken wings is part of a greater initiative to eventually replace all of its proteins with RWA options; in May, the pizza chain introduced RWA pepperoni and in September, it introduced RWA bacon. Smoked ham is next on Pizza Nova’s list, which will become RWA by the end of the year.

“We have had very positive feedback on our RWA products,” says Domenic Primucci, president of Pizza Nova. “It’s clear our customers share our belief in moving toward more responsibly sourced proteins. Quality is in our DNA, and in an industry where standards are always increasing, we continually look for ways to improve. Introducing RWA proteins is one of the ways we’re doing that.”
