TORONTO — Pizza Pizza has introduced a new cauliflower-based crust pizza to its menu to capitalize on a growing trend in Canada — healthy eating. As of July 16, the Cauliflower-Crust Pizza was made available at restaurants across Canada.
“Pizza Pizza has always been a consistent innovator and we know consumers are on the hunt for trend-worthy meals that help them incorporate more vegetables into their diet. Our new Cauliflower-Crust Pizza is our way of filling the void in the market,” says Paul Goddard, CEO at Pizza Pizza. “It will offer consumers the perfect healthier alternative they’ve been looking for in a pizza, without compromising on taste.”
The QSR chain will feature two specially crafted recipes: Cauli Pesto and the Cauli Blanca. The crust, which is gluten-free, has a similar texture to the usual crust and also contains two servings of real cauliflower and other vegetables.
Available in medium size, the Cauli Pesto has a pesto-sauce base topped with mozzarella cheese, grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, spinach and Italian-blend seasoning ($15.99). The Cauli Blanca has an olive-oil base topped with mozzarella cheese, artichokes, grilled zucchini, roasted garlic, parmesan cheese and Italian-blend seasoning ($15.99).
