MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — An innovative food destination popped up in Mississauga, Ont. last week, offering truck drivers, who have struggled to find food options during the COVID-19 pandemic, nutritious and convenient menu items at the tap of a digital screen.

PizzaForno, an automated pizza oven (a.k.a. pizza-vending machine) has opened up at Petro Canada Dixie Petro-Pass (7300 Dixie Road) and is serving up fresh, artisanal pizzas in under three minutes. Truck drivers and Mississauga locals alike will have the option to choose from seven menu options, each made fresh by hand with natural, locally sourced ingredients. The pizzas are baked in a patented convection oven and transported by a robotic arm — no human interaction involved.

With health and safety being a top priority, PizzaForno screens and ovens are thoroughly disinfected on a regular basis and hand sanitizer is available on-site to provide a hygienic experience for all guests.

To further support the broader community during the COVID-19 crisis, PizzaForno has committed to supporting Food Rescue by donating fresh pizzas and has offered frontline workers at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences discount codes to subsidize their pizzas.
