QUEBEC CITY — As of 5 p.m. yesterday, Quebec shut down bars, schools, gyms, casinos, extracurricular activities and more as COVID-19 case counts soar. Restaurants will have to reduce their capacity to 50 per cent and limit their hours to 5 to 10 p.m. Professional sports will have to be held without audiences and working from home is mandatory, Health Minister Christian Dubé said at a press conference Monday afternoon.
Quebec reported a record 4,571 new cases in 24 hours Monday.
“The situation is critical. The explosion of cases is overwhelming,” said Dubé. “Our health system is already in crisis.”
