QUEBEC CITY, Que. — Restaurant Initiale, a Quebec City-based member of Relais & Châteaux, was recently awarded a Five-Diamond rating in 2012 by the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) and American Automobile Association (AAA).

The 40-seat contemporary restaurant has been awarded a Four-Diamond rating by both associations for the past 10 years. “Maintaining this level of excellence for all these years is an achievement in itself,” said Paul Pelletier, president and CEO of CAA-Quebec. “In obtaining the Five-Diamond rating, grand chef Relais & Châteaux, Yvan Lebrun, and co-owner and partner from day one, Rolande Leclerc, have demonstrated the outstanding professionalism we associate with world-class establishments.”

A Five-Diamond establishment must offer a “sublime dining experience,” according to the terms used in the rating guidelines published by the CAA and AAA. In Canada, only six restaurants earned this distinction in 2011.
