TORONTO — Canadian chain Quesada Burritos & Tacos officially launched its 150th restaurant in Edmonton last Friday.

Quesada plans to open more than 20 new locations in 2021, with B.C. and Ontario among the brand’s fastest-growing markets.

“The pandemic proved how strong the love of Quesada’s unique, authentic take on burritos and tacos truly is. Our fans stayed with us as we weathered the storm. That’s inspired us to put a stronger focus on growth at a more rapid pace across the country before launching internationally,” says Steve Gill, founder & CEO, Quesada Burritos & Tacos.

Beginning in August, Quesada will partner with REEF Kitchens to offer ghost kitchens in downtown Toronto with plans to expand across the country later this year.

“This broadens our reach and allows even more people to experience Quesada,” adds Gill. “We’re excited about that because we know that once people try us, they’re hooked. “

While the onset of the pandemic saw an initial dip in sales, Quesada continued to support important environmental and humanitarian causes as part of its Kindness Menu through charitable partnerships with Second Harvest, David Suzuki Foundation and the Red Cross. The company also launched Canada’s first-ever biodegradable burrito wrap to divert 100,000 pounds of foil from landfills by 2025 as well as engaged in its first-ever advertising campaign during the NHL playoffs.
