TORONTO — Quesada Burritos & Tacos is phasing out foil wrappers and will begin packaging its burritos in biodegradable paper, starting this April.
“We’re working hard to be more sustainable, while also hopefully influencing and empowering our community of fans and loyal customers to do the same,” says Steve Gill, founder & CEO, Quesada Burritos & Tacos.
The change is expected to divert about 100,000 pounds of aluminum from landfills over the next five years.
The chain is also topping up its donation to the David Suzuki Foundation through April 30 by expanding charitable menu items to include all of its plant-based menu items. Quesada typically donates one per cent of the sales of its Beyond Meat burrito to support the organization through its commitment to the 1% for the Planet initiative.
