SCARBOROUGH, Ont. — An agreement has been finalised to sell Scarborough, Ont.-based Rabco Foodservice Limited to Brian Wood and Jon Scorey. The tentative closing date for the sale and change of ownership of the company is July 3, 2019.

Wood has been involved in the foodservice industry at the dealer, supplier and buying-group level. He’s been employed in a variety of executive roles with Pascal Hotel Supplies, Browne & Co., Browne-Halco Inc. and is currently the C.E.O of the Newmarket, Ont.-based R.E.D Buying Group. Wood brings excellent customer knowledge and relationships from his past experience, as well as extensive experience sourcing and developing products worldwide. He’ll be assuming the title of president and, once his duties at R.E.D have been fulfilled, will be looking to position Rabco for growth.

Scorey is the current vice-president of Rabco and has been for many years. His ongoing involvement as VP Operations will ensure a smooth transition. Prior to his position as VP, he was Rabco’s computer-systems consultant and was responsible for all internal aspects of the business including systems, operations, warehousing, purchasing, customer service and accounting.

Current Rabco president, Steven Rabkin will be staying on for one year as a senior advisor to assist in the transition.

“I’m delighted to be handing the company over to two such accomplished individuals who I know will be successful in the ongoing development of the company,” says Rabkin. “I started in 1988 and at this time I would like to pay tribute to the entire team of Rabco employees and representatives who have helped build Rabco into the business it has become —one of which I am very proud.”
