WINNIPEG — Winnipeg’s Red River College is set to become a major culinary player in Canada. After investing millions towards rejuvenating the historic Union Bank Tower in the city’s downtown exchange district, the Paterson Global Foods Institute, the School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts, will open its doors to students Feb. 21.

The new school will provide industry-relevant courses and programs serving the hospitality and tourism sectors as well as applied research on food products. “Having access to state-of-the-art equipment for training and research significantly enhances the learning experience for our students and faculty and helps firmly establish Red River College as having one of the leading culinary institutes in Canada,” said Stephanie Forsyth, president of Red River College.

The building also sports a 105-seat student-run restaurant, Jane’s, which offers student-designed menus, a chef’s table and one of the country’s only tandoori ovens.
