TORONTO — Redberry Restaurants is opening its first downtown Toronto Jersey Mike’s Subs location in the Union Market area of Union Station on January 22.
The downtown opening is part of Redberry’s long-term plan to open 300 Jersey Mike’s locations in the next 10 years. It’s the fifth Jersey Mike’s Redberry has opened since August 2024. Other locations have opened in Markham, North York, Brantford and Guelph, Ont. A Pickering, Ont.- location is also coming early in the new year. These six locations will employ nearly 180 crew members in the Greater Toronto Area. Redberry also owns two existing and recently re-modelled Jersey Mike’s locations in Kitchener and London, Ont.
As part of the opening, Redberry is holding a fundraiser from Jan. 22 to 26 to support Make-A-Wish Canada where customers who received a special fundraising coupon distributed through a grassroots effort prior to the opening can make a minimum $3 contribution to Make-A-Wish in exchange for a regular sub.
“We have arrived at the heart of Canadian commerce in Toronto’s downtown business district and we’re just getting started,” says Ken Otto, CEO, Redberry. “We can’t wait to offer effortless access to our ‘sub-above’ experience from the venerable halls of Union Station to countless Toronto commuters, shoppers and tourists and we’re eager to continue supporting Make-A-Wish Canada during the first five days of our grand opening celebration.”
Last year, in Canada, between the company’s annual Month of Giving in March and the Markham and North York, Ont. opening fundraisers, Jersey Mike’s raised nearly $19,000 to help Make-A-Wish Canada. In addition, $2,396 was raised for Child Hunger Brantford and $2,645 for the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington, Ont.
