Restaurant Buzz: Chez Boss & Fils

0

The L-shaped mahogany bar at Chez Boss & Fils ― part of the design by owners Louis Boutin, Félix Dauvet-Lainesse and Maggie Cloutier ― is the heart of the 40-seat restaurant in Verdun, giving diners a front-row view of the inner workings of the busy kitchen. Music from the ’70s and ’80s adds to the friendly and casual atmosphere. Chef Dara Khlot puts an Asian spin on the fish- and seafood-laden menu from Tuesday through Saturday evenings. Favourites already include albacore tuna tataki with panko crust, wasabi peas, meat-glaze vinaigrette, pistachio nougatine, fried spinach, radish and cucumber ($14); and the duo of smoked scallops and shrimp fritters with cauliflower curry gratin, bisque and caviar, asparagus salad and grated red beets ($26).
