0

The first Jamie’s Italian restaurant in North America has opened at Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Centre. The joint venture between Jamie Oliver and The King Street Food Company, which owns Toronto’s Buca and Jacobs & Co. Steakhouse and The Saint Tavern, features high ceilings, an open kitchen and an expansive bar. The menu includes fresh pasta such as porcini fettuccine with wild and field mushrooms, mascarpone, garlic, white wine, lemony gremolata, Parmigiano Reggiano and pangrattato ($11.75/18.95); made-to-order pizzas such as the prosciutto and arugula with a Sicilian tomato base and Parmigiano Reggiano ($18.95); and antipasti including a fresh crab bruschetta with fennel, lemon and chilli ($9.95). It also offers a kids’ menu, with items such as chicken lollipops and cheesy pasta bake. Since the opening of the first restaurant in 2008 in Oxford, England, Jamie’s Italian has grown to more than 60 restaurants worldwide, including Australia, Hong Kong, Brazil and Moscow.
