OTTAWA — After a week of trying to identify the source of more than a dozen salmonella cases, experts have issued warnings against two brands of headcheese.

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued recalls for Freybe and Brandt brands of headcheese after 18 Canadians (17 in B.C. and one in Ontario) contracted the infection.

PHAC is asking Canadians who currently have headcheese lingering in their refrigerators to contact their delis to determine if the product falls under the recall umbrella.
