WHISTLER, B.C. — Whistler Resort has been introduced to thousands of U.S. residents living in the San Francisco Bay area who are being encouraged to indulge in the Canadian landscape, hospitality and food.

The Canadian destination is being spotlighted in a series of 30-minute broadcasts on NBC San Francisco due to a partnership between Tourism Whistler, Vancouver Coast and Mountains Tourism Region, NBC and tours.com.

“This is a significant win for Whistler,” said Arlene Schieven, vice-president of Marketing for Tourism Whistler. “The project is an excellent example of how we’sre working to leverage our strong partnerships to enhance awareness of Whistler as a year-round destination of choice.” she said. “The San Francisco Bay Area represents one of our key markets, and this program brings Whistler into the living rooms of more than 500,000 potential visitors.”

The format sees host David Mulligan bringing viewers to Whistler via segments featuring a variety of Whistler activities. Mulligan hosts the interview directly from the NBC studio, telling Whistler stories with the help of Chili Thom, Whistler artist, adventurer, disc jockey and filmmaker.

Many of the episodes have already aired, but the final show will run Dec. 18 at 3 p.m., following the NBC Sports special: Iron Man World Championships.
