Saputo Employees Test Positive for COVID-19 at Vaughan Facility

VAUGHAN, Ont. — According to York Region Public Health, 24 employees at Saputo’s Vaughan, Ont. facility have tested positive for Coronavirus and one of those workers has died.

Global News reported a public-health notice issued on Friday said those affected work at Saputo Dairy Products Canada on Royal Group Crescent near Highways 427 and 7. The notice confirmed six of the 24 people diagnosed with COVID-19, including the person who died, live in York Region. Officials said close contacts of all those affected are being contacted by public-health staff.

“All COVID-19 prevention precautions are in place including [personal-protective equipment] for staff, staff screening, hand sanitizer, physical distancing throughout the warehouse, reduced staff complement, updated sick policy and enhanced cleaning of high-touch surfaces,” the update said, adding food is not produced at the building.
