Slow Taste of Vancouver

VANCOUVER — During the week of Oct. 11, slow-food activists across the continent will be celebrating “Slow Taste of Italy,” an event that pays homage to slow, local, sustainable food and the culinary pilgrimage noted in Jessica Theroux’s book Cooking with Italian Grandmothers.

Vancouverites will be able to contribute to the cause at Campagnolo restaurant, which will be honouring the national event by hosting a family style luncheon Oct. 16 in collaboration with Welcome Books and Slow Food Vancouver. Chef JC Poirier will prepare traditional Italian fare inspired by Theroux’s recipes, as well as restaurant specialties.

A portion of the $98 tickets sales will benefit Slow Food Vancouver and its quest to send delegates to Italy for the noted slow-food meeting of culinary minds, Terra Madre 2010.
