DENVER — Smashburger, a Denver-based chain, is coming to Canada, with the first stores expected to open in Calgary next year and more openings planned for Calgary and Edmonton in the future.

The first restaurants will be corporate, but the company is targeting additional growth across Canada and is looking for experienced multi-unit operators to become franchise partners in all provinces.

“We are eager to introduce Smashburger’s better burger offering and our diverse menu of chicken sandwiches, fresh-tossed salads and signatures sides to residents in Calgary and Edmonton,” said Dave Prokupek, the company’s chairman and CEO. “Canada is a very attractive market to us, and we believe we are bringing a unique, premium-dining experience at a competitive price point to local residents. In addition to our company locations here, we are in active discussions with potential franchise partners to further expand our presence with experienced operators in both Vancouver and Toronto.”
