Smiles Cookies Return to Tim Hortons

OAKVILLE, Ont. — Tim Hortons is sharing smiles with Canadians from coast to coast with the return of the annual Smile-Cookie fundraiser.

From September 17 to 23, guests can purchase a Tim Hortons chocolate chunk Smile Cookie for $1 (plus tax) and restaurant owners will donate the full amount to local charities, hospitals and community programs.

“The magic of the Smile Cookie is that there is a real smile of a Canadian individual benefitting behind each and every one,” says Alex Macedo, president of Tim Hortons. “We are incredibly proud and deeply appreciative of what our restaurant owners and guests accomplish together each year with this program, raising millions of dollars to help those who need it most through donations to charities from coast-to-coast.”

What began as a fundraiser for the Hamilton Children’s Hospital in 1996 has since grown to a national initiative. Now, Tim Hortons has taken the initiative global with locations in Mexico, the U.K., the Philippines and the U.A.E. all participating. Last year, the campaign raised more than $6.5 million.

This year, more than 500 charities, hospitals and community programs will benefit directly from the Smile-Cookie campaign, including The Snowsuit Fund in Ottawa, Children’s Wish in Montreal and the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation in Vancouver.
