AJAX, Ont. — The Smoke’s Poutinerie team has expanded into the hot-dog category, serving up the traditional dog with unique toppings at 457 Spadina Ave. in Toronto.

The new Smoke’s Weinerie will host its grand opening on Sept. 22, where customers will be invited to check out the design inspired by industrial hot dog carts and walls displaying tongue-in-cheek phrases such as “Grab Your Weiner Here.”

Options will include the traditional Montreal steamie, a quarter-pound all-beef wiener and a half-pound all-beef 12-inch classic. Some of the signature items include the Poutine Dog with hand-cut fries, Quebec cheese curds and Smoke’s signature gravy ($5.99); Bacon Mushroom Melt with double-smoked bacon, mushrooms and cheddar cheese sauce ($6.99); and the Nacho Nacho with homemade chili, salsa, cheddar cheese sauce and jalapeños ($6.99).

“We’re doing to wieners what we did to poutine. We’ve poured our heart and soul into research and development. Our test kitchen has been overflowing with wieners and we’ve certainly had our hands full,” says Ryan Smolkin, founder of Smoke’s Poutinerie and Smoke’s Weinerie. “We have created something so unique, so truly amazing, we cannot wait to share it with the world.”
