MONTREAL — This summer will see more than 1,000 underprivileged children in Montreal nurturing their souls at camp while nourishing their stomachs with free lunches being offered from June 28 to August 20 by Sodexo, in partnership with Moisson Montréal food bank.

“I have received a healthy meal every lunch-time during my day camp for three years. I am happy because I have the energy all day long to play and learn new things from the counsellors,” explains 10-year-old Laura L’sAfricain.

The Feeding Our Future program offers hundreds of children between the ages of four and 12, at 12 participating summer camps, the chance to receive a lunch that isn’t only free, but healthy, too. “Our concern with Feeding Our Future is to enable a growing number of children to adequately feed themselves not only in Montreal but also elsewhere in the country. Present in Toronto since 2000, the program also includes Montreal, Ottawa, Halifax, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Calgary and Hamilton,” explains Denise Bernachez, director of marketing and development for Sodexo Québec.

Since the program’s inception in 2000, more than 225,000 meals have been served to children in Montreal, and 450,000 lunches have been distributed to children across Canada.
