TORONTO — Fine-dining institution Splendido is ending its 25-year run in Toronto.

Executive chef/owner Victor Barry, who has worked at the Harbord St. spot for 10 years and became owner in 2009, told The Globe and Mail that he is shuttering the restaurant and the last meal will be served on New Year’s Eve. “I just had my 10th anniversary working at Splendido and the restaurant is coming up on its 25th anniversary. It will always be remembered as one of those iconic restaurants of Toronto,” the chef told the newspaper, who added that he plans to spend more time with family.

Splendido is known for its multi-course tasting menus priced at $180 per person, serving up specialties such as egg yolk ravioli and five-hour roasted carrot.
