Spot Prawn Festival Kicks Off BC Spot Prawn Season

VANCOUVER — Chefs and fisherman will kick off the B.C. spot-prawn season May 5 in Vancouver at the 6th annual Spot Prawn Festival.

The festival begins with a spot-prawn boil at the False Creek Fishermen’s Wharf with proceeds benefiting The Chefs’ Table Society of British Columbia.

Recognized as Canada’s largest spot prawn festival and prawn boil, the event provides foodies and spot-prawn enthusiasts the opportunity to buy fresh, live, locally sourced and sustainable prawns directly off the wharf while taking in live cooking demos by chefs.

The Spot Prawn Festival was hatched to promote sustainable B.C. spot prawns as a responsibly fished alternative to black tiger prawns imported from environmentally damaging farms in other regions.
