VANCOUVER — The St. Lawrence Restaurant took top honours in Vancouver Magazine’s 2022 Restaurant Awards, winning Restaurant of the Year as well as a win in the Best Upscale category.
It was the third time St. Lawrence Restaurant has won Restaurant of the Year, having previously won the title in 2018 and 2019. This year also saw St. Lawrence named among the top three of Canada’s Best 100 Restaurants for 2022.
The kitchen is anchored by chef/owner J-C Poirier and backed by chef de cuisine Colin Johnson and sous chef Jake Isaak. The front of house is overseen by GM Julie Sopuck, sommelier David Lawson and barkeep Sarah Hawkins.
The restaurant draws on various regions of France as inspiration for its table d’hôte approach to menu design. So, in a year where travel was still limited, a local diner could experience the choucroute of Alsace, the cod dumplings of Lyon or the bouillabaisse of Provence — all executed in a way that is refreshing and distinctive while still honouring the dishes’ geography — without ever having to leave the city limits.
The Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards are judged by a panel of leading food experts and critics and presented at a formal awards ceremony at Rocky Mountaineer Station in Vancouver on October 4, 2022. A full list of winners of the 2022 annual awards is available here.
