SEATLLE — The Starbucks Corp. team announced late last week that it is preparing to offer a delivery service to select U.S. cities next year.
“Imagine the ability to create a standing order that Starbucks delivered, hot or iced, to your desk daily,” Howard Schultz, CEO, Starbucks, said in a conference call Thursday. “That’s our version of e-commerce on steroids.”
The announcement was made after disappointing quarterly sales — which were lower than Wall Street expectations — were reported at the Seattle-based company.
The company did not reveal details, but, by mid-year, customers in select cities are expected to be able to use the mobile ordering and payment app to have food and drinks delivered by Starbucks employees.
