Steam Whistle Biergärten

Torontonians no longer have to wait until Oktoberfest to bust out their lederhosen and drink from a beer stein because Steam Whistle has opened its very own Biergärten in Toronto’s historic Roundhouse. Inspired by the legendary bier halls of Munich, the Steam Whistle Biergärten kitchen, headed by chef Tyson Porcellato of the Food Dudes, is serving up German inspired sausages, currywurst and pretzels along with vegetarian and vegan menu options.

In traditional communal-style dining format, the restaurant has long tables that span the length of the dining room and encourage guests to share. “The Steam Whistle Biergärten takes inspiration from some of Munich’s most reputable Biergärtens and Bier Halls, a place that is not exclusive, but one that promotes openness and sharing,” says Josh Hillinger, project manager and Onsite Experience manager for Steam Whistle Brewing.

On tap, as expected, is the Steam Whistle Pilsner, brewed according to the Bavarian Purity Act of 1516, along with the Brewery’s new Munich Lager, Von Bugle. To add some variety, the bar will also serve shandies, radlers and biercola — a cocktail of beer mixed with Boylan Craft Cane Cola.
