TORONTO — Ted Corrado has joined the team at byMINISTRY as its director of Culinary. byMINISTRY is an experiential lifestyle brand opening its flagship high-end, plant-forward culinary lab, school and lounge in Toronto in 2020.

In this new role, Corrado will bring his contemporary and inventive cooking style to the evolving world of adaptogenic superfoods and “cannabistronomy.” He will lead the launch of byMINISTRY’s cooking school Lab byMINISTRY, create plant-forward food and drink menus for all byMINISTRY spaces and events, as well as assist with the development of a range of in-house product lines.

“We asked Ted Corrado to join us because of his interest in experimentation with plant-forward and adaptogenic superfoods as well as his appreciation for how cannabis infusion will ignite our palettes. I’m thrilled that he’s on the byMINISTRY team and can’t wait for the magic to begin,” says Shauna Levy, CEO, byMINISTRY. “I can’t think of a better person to develop the culinary school and work with us to provide a safe and culturally relevant space for plant-forward consumption.”

byMINISTRY is currently advocating and encouraging governments to legislate cannabis consumption spaces and, once legalized, Corrado will offer dynamic, gourmet cannabis-infused menus at of its spaces. Until then, infusions will focus on adaptogens, super foods and terpenes.

“byMINISTRY offers an exciting new culinary challenge, with a unique opportunity to help shape an entire industry from the ground up. Being able to apply my passion for ingredients, technique and flavour pairing to innovate in the culinary, plant-forward and cannabis worlds is the perfect way for me to continue to evolve and experiment as a chef,” says Corrado. “I look forward to developing elevated culinary programming, menus and collaborations through byMINISTRY that will continue to progress our mission of creating a sophisticated, normalized future.”

Corrado will also be launching the first of byMINISTRY’s exclusive pre-opening experiences, The Enlightened Dining Club — secret supper club held at design-forward private locations each month. The Enlightened Dining Club will feature monthly immersive dining and educational experiences, which will work to break stereotypes and remove stigmas through elevated plant-forward gastronomy.

Inspired by a different concept each month, offerings will range from immersive culinary experiences with interactive visual and audio elements from renowned artists and innovators, to unprecedented collaborations between Corrado and other international and local culinary talent.

“The Enlightened Dining Club is my opportunity to test out new dishes and ideas ahead of byMINISTRY’s flagship opening — and innovate by bringing together inspiring creative minds to collaborate and input on where to take the industry next,” says Corrado.

The first installment of The Enlightened Dining Club will be held in January and feature a collaboration between Corrado, digital experience specialists nVoid, Toronto-based artist Dahae Song and Tosho Knives.
