TORONTO — Toronto-based The Chickery is coming to Western Canada. The franchise agreement is a multi-unit deal for Alberta, with real-estate options currently being explored in Edmonton. The first location is expected to open next winter.

The Chickery is a “better chicken” concept, which focuses on healthy and indulgent menu options using both rotisserie and fried chicken. The new locations will serve The Chickery’s newest menu item, Rotisserie Fried Chicken (RFC) along with its full menu, including chicken fingers and an assortment of salads, sandwiches and gourmet sides.

New franchisee, Bilal Khan, is well-connected in the Canadian market and is passionate about bringing healthier chicken options to the underserved fast-casual chicken segment. “I believe the fast-casual chicken segment is a category poised for tremendous growth, which is why I was so interested in The Chickery,” says Khan. “Based on the success of previous Canadian locations, I’m excited about introducing the concept to the Western-Canada market.”

The Chickery currently has three locations in Toronto, a newly opened location in Guelph, Ont. and one location in Washington, D.C. The brand has partnered with Fransmart — the franchise-development company behind the explosive growth of restaurant brands such as Five Guys Burgers and Fries, The Halal Guys and Freshii — to support its expansion growth.
