The Green Wood, known for its wholesome, sustainably sourced food, opened in Toronto’s west end January 20.
The new restaurant — designed by Emil Teleki, owner of local firm I-V — serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and cocktails seven days a week and offers a meal-kit takeaway option featuring pre-made dishes.
At the helm of the kitchen is executive chef Ariel Coplan, whose menu boasts many vegan and gluten-free options, such as Almost Huevos, a vegan tofu scramble with lemon-garlic tahini, avocado, pico de gallo and beans ($15); the Nashville Bowl, featuring barbecued tofu with braised black beans, southern slaw and a fried pickle ($16); and the Tel Aviv Bowl, a hand-made falafel with lentil salad, pickled beets, hummus, cucumber and lemon tahini ($16).
