TOFINO, B.C. — Carmen Ingham is the new executive chef at The Pointe Restaurant at the Wickaninnish Inn. Raised in North Vancouver, Ingham will look to bring his culinary experience and regional understanding to the position.
“Chef Carmen is one of the up-and-coming chefs and, true to past form, the Wickaninnish Inn and The Pointe Restaurant continue to innovate and refresh our culinary program with the best and brightest of tomorrow’s new stars,” says Charles McDiarmid, managing director of the Inn.
Ingham was most recently head chef at Olo Restaurant in Victoria, B.C., where he became known for preparing dishes with the best seasonal ingredients from Vancouver Island. Prior to that, the Vancouver Community College (VCC) graduate was executive chef at Villa Eyrie Resort in Malahat, B.C. In 2016, he was one of the top-10 young chefs in Canada at the San Pellegrino Young Chef competition. He’s also worked as a sous chef at Sonora Resort, an experience he credits as one of the most influential of his career.
“I am very passionate about this beautiful corner of the world and have always thought of the Inn as the property that best represents it,” Ingham says. “I couldn’t ask for a more inspiring place to cook.”
