Three Restaurants Moving Into Calgary’s Simmons Building

CALGARY — The historic Simmons building in Calgary’s East Village will soon be home to three restaurants: Charcut, Citizen Sidewalk Bakery and Phil as well as Sebastian Coffee Roasters, according to Global News.

The new eateries will complement a larger $51-million redevelopment of the neighbourhood, which includes a new park and pedestrian bridge linking the East Village to St. Patrick’s Island. “This is one of Calgary’s darkest spaces, and it’s going from a drug haven where negative things were taking place to where it’s going to be a special place for all Calgarians and residents in East Village,” Michael Brown, president of Calgary Municipal Land Corporation, is quoted as saying by Global.

The restaurants are expected to open by the new year. [globalnews.ca]
