OAKVILLE, Ont. — Tim Hortons is highlighting its hockey roots with the launch of a new commercial and contest featuring Pittsburgh Penguins’ Sidney Crosby.
“From our founder, NHL great Tim Horton, to the more than 75,000 young hockey fans that enrol in Timbits Hockey each year, to our hockey ambassador Sidney Crosby, this contest and commercial are just another way we are bringing our love of the game to life,” said Rob Forbes, senior director, Marketing, Ontario and National Programs, Tim Hortons.
The commercial made its television debut during coverage of the World Junior Hockey Championship on TSN Jan. 4. Since then the online video version has accumulated more than 160-thousand views, making it one of the most popular YouTube videos in Canada. It features real Canadian hockey fans and Timbits Hockey players backing Crosby as he faces off at centre ice.
The commercial served as a kick-off to the contest, which requires participants visit the chain’s #JumpTheBoards app on Facebook to view and ‘share’ the TV ad. Each participant earns the chance to win a trip for two to meet Crosby, spending money and a $250 Tims’ Card.
The contest runs until Jan. 25.
