Tim Hortons Protests Go National

OTTAWA — Protests against Tim Hortons have spread beyond Ontario with approximately 50 demonstrations planned to take place across the country, today, reports Ottawa Business Journal.

Today’s protests follow those organized by The Ontario Federation of Labour and the Fight for $15 and Fairness, earlier this month, in response to individual franchise owners cutting employee benefits to offset Ontario’s minimum-wage hike.

Most of the scheduled protests will still take place in Ontario, while others will take place in cities such as Calgary, Halifax, Saskatoon, Regina and Vancouver.

Fight for $15 and Fairness stresses the protests are about putting pressure on Tim Hortons’ parent company, Restaurant Brands International (RBI), not the franchise owners themselves.
