OAKVILLE, Ont. — Tim Hortons is celebrating its sponsorship of the World Cup of Hockey 2016 in restaurants across the country through new cup designs and promotions. Local Timbits hockey players will be taking centre ice during the intermission of four World Cup of Hockey games on the opening weekend and Tim Hortons will be providing coffee at the Scotiabank World Cup of Hockey Fan Village in Toronto’s Distillery District.

In celebration of the 2016/17 hockey season, Tim Hortons has also launched a three-part online video series featuring Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby and Colorado Avalanche centre Nathan MacKinnon making a surprise Tims Run in their home province of Nova Scotia.

“There really isn’t anything more Canadian than a Tims Run, so I’m glad Nate and I were able to team up with Tim Hortons again this year and take it to the next level,” says Crosby. “We both love being out in our communities whenever we get the chance and it was fun to surprise some of the people at home in Nova Scotia. This was a great way for us to kick off the hockey season and build on last year’s amazing experience.”
