TORONTO — Tim Hortons has begun testing new environmentally friendly coffee-cup lids to replace its current, notoriously leaky ones, reports the Toronto Star.

The new lids, which are currently being tested at six restaurant locations, were reportedly pushed forward by brand president Alex Macedo. The lids are part of a larger push by the brand to rethink its packaging.

Duncan Fulton, chief Corporate officer, RBI notes that the team will take function, design and the environment into account when creating the new packaging. The brand has also indicated that it is “actively reviewing” its use of plastic straws.
