To Japan, With Love

TORONTO — Margaret Atwood, Michael Ondaatje and Adrienne Clarkson are among the list of 70 Canadian heavyweights who will share the stage at ‘Toronto to Japan: Hope Blossoms,’ an event to raise funds for relief efforts in earthquake and tsunami-ravaged Japan.

The April 21 event to be held at Toronto’s TIFF Bell Lightbox is co-chaired by former restaurateur Sang Kim, currently of Sang Kim Hospitality Consulting. “’Toronto to Japan: Hope Blossoms’ will showcase the talents of some of Canada’s most prominent and iconic figures, evoke laughter and tears and spontaneous song through tableaus ranging from stirring, to funny, to slapstick with tragedy,” says Kim.

The fundraiser is being organized by ‘Toronto to Japan,’ a collective of Canadian artists, musicians, writers, activists and business leaders hoping to raise money to donate to Japanese Red Cross Society, Doctors Without Borders and Second Harvest. “Our goal is to raise money for relief while at the same time showing our solidarity with the people who have suffered so much,” adds Kim.
