TORONTO — Tabasco Brand Pepper Sauce and C.W. Shasky and Associates Ltd. recently threw a retirement party at Big Daddy’s Bourbon Street Bistro & Oyster Bar in Toronto for its corporate chef, Ralph Bettany.

“Let’s raise a glass to Chef Ralph and wish him a safe and happy retirement and success in all of his future endeavors,” read the invitation for a Cajun-inspired farewell party, featuring a Tobasco-inspired cake (pictured).

Bettany has been with the company for nine years and a part of the industry for 40 years. Originally trained in traditional European methods, the chef has worked across Europe and North America in hotels, restaurants, resorts, golf clubs, health-care facilities and as a chef in the British Armed Forces. For the past decade his culinary career has been dedicated to educating Canadian chefs on emerging trends and creative ways to incorporate excitement and value into menus.
