Top Canadian Sommelier Creates Unique Wine Lists for The Forks

WINNIPEG — Véronique Rivest — one of the world’s most respected sommeliers — has entered a year-long partnership with Winnipeg’s The Forks, during which she will create four seasonal wine lists featuring global wines that celebrate the area’s local flavours.

The Forks Market is the first food hall of its kind in Canada, bringing together some of Winnipeg’s top restaurants and food vendors under one roof.

“Since it was founded 6,000 years ago, The Forks has been a meeting place bursting with culture,” says Paul Jordan, CEO of The Forks. ‘Blending Véronique’s expert wine pairings with our unique food scene makes each dining experience at The Forks even more memorable.”

Each of Rivest’s seasonal wine lists is inspired by local flavours and harvests. Her second wine list, which launched earlier this month, is crafted to celebrate the summer season and includes refreshing yet elegant wine selections, including Vaporetto Prosecco Brut, False Bay Whole Bunch Rosé and The Ned Rosé Marlborough.

For the unveiling of each list, Rivest hosts a one-of-a-kind event, such as the burger and wine pairing seminar held on June 6th and 7th. The two remaining wine lists of the year will be launched in October and January.
