TORONTO — Food Network Canada’s Top Chef Canada is returning for its second season tonight, March 12, with 16 new chefs competing for the grand prize.

According to Marc McEwan, head judge and celebrity chef, the second season will be high-energy.

“There were a lot of sparks going on, in a great way, because I think one of the best things about Top Chef is it’s very respectful towards the culinary arts. It’s about celebrating it and celebrating Canadian excellence,” McEwan was quoted as saying by The Canadian Press.

Of the 16 contestants this season, three are female. The winner will receive $100,000 and a GE Monogram kitchen worth $30,000.

Lisa Ray — an actress, model and foodie — will replace Thea Andrews as host.

Top Chef Canada will air Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Food Network Canada.
