Tora Celebrates One-Year Anniversary

TORONTO — TORA, a Japanese concept from Aburi Restaurants Canada featuring state-of-the-art technology, celebrated its one-year anniversary January 28. 

With its modern sushi-concierge system, where guests place their orders on a tablet and have their dishes delivered tableside via a laneway system, TORA has become one of the city’s top destinations for innovative sushi service.

“TORA’s dining concept aims to push the boundaries of a traditional sushi-service experience and offer more people access to high-quality Japanese cuisine,” says Kazuya Matsuoka, COO & corporate executive chef, Aburi Restaurant Canada. “After a successful first year, we’re thrilled with the warm reception TORA has received and will continue to bring unique and exciting restaurant offerings to Toronto.”

In summer 2019, Aburi Restaurants Canada took its concept global with the opening of TORA Futako Tamagawa in Tokyo. 

“As the proud pioneers of Aburi cuisine in Canada, we strive for constant innovation and TORA’s concept is a perfect example of that,” says Kazuki Uchigoshi, head of Menu Development, Aburi Restaurants Canada.

The restaurant is located in the Yorkdale Shopping Centre is open Monday to Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Sundays from 11:30 a.m. until 9 p.m.
