TORONTO — Second Harvest and The Daniels Corporation are bringing Toronto Taste back to the city on June 12.

Toronto’s top chefs will gather at Corus Quay in support of food rescue in an event featuring dishes and drinks from more than 90 restaurants and beverage purveyors. Second Harvest will also give three people the opportunity to be sous chefs for one of the three competing Chef Challenge participants — chefs Kaya Ogruce, Darby Piquette and Ivana Raca — and one top fundraiser will earn a coveted spot at the all-star judge’s panel alongside Cynthia Beretta, chef Nick Liu, chef Matt DeMille and chef Juriaan Snellen.

“This year promises to be bigger and better than ever before and we are thrilled to host an all-star lineup of Toronto’s brightest and most celebrated chefs and beverage purveyors,” says Debra Lawson, executive director, Second Harvest.

Participating restaurants include Antler, Aria, Boralia, Buca, Café Belong, George Brown Chef School, Little Anthony’s, Little Fin, Los Colibris, The McEwan Group, Mildred’s Temple Kitchen and Scaramouche Restaurant. For a full list of restaurants click here.

The event has raised more than $11 million to date in support of Second Harvest’s food rescue program, enabling the organization to rescue enough fresh, surplus food to provide more than 27 million meals for children, adults and seniors experiencing hunger in the GTA. Approximately 20 per cent of Second Harvest’s fundraising comes directly from Toronto Taste.

The Daniels Corporation has been a presenting sponsor of Toronto Taste for 21 years. “The opportunity to help support Second Harvest, an organization committed to working in our communities to feed people experiencing hunger, is a cause we hold close to our hearts,” says Don Pugh, VP, The Daniels Corporation.
