Toronto Gets Sneak Peak at Pazazz

ELGIN, Minn. — Following nine years of development, Toronto residents will be among the first in the country to taste Pazazz, an all-new winter apple variety descended from the popular Honeycrisp. The new apple will be unveiled nationally in 2018.

Available exclusively through Van Meekren, Pazazz will be in-market during the months of January and February while supplies last. In addition, the Pazazz demonstration team will hold custom events in-store to showcase Pazazz’s unique attributes.

“Toronto residents really know their apples,” says Don Roper, vice-president Sales and Marketing, Honeybear Brands. “We’re eager to hear what they think about this unique and incredible apple variety that, unlike most apples, is grown to peak in flavour during the months of January and February when many other apple varieties begin to lose their just harvested taste.”

Harvested in late fall, Pazazz stores exceptionally well and provides a crisp and intense burst of sweet and tart flavours. It is grown by family run orchards up and down the Mississippi River Valley as well as in Washington, New York and Nova Scotia.

“Pazazz is very new but already shattering all our expectations,” adds Roper. “We’re introducing the variety this year in carefully selected markets known for their love of apples and fresh fruit. And we’ll be taking on board all the feedback we get from our retail partners and their customers before Pazazz reaches full maturity in 2018 and is introduced coast to coast across North America.”
