Toronto Restaurateurs Defy Summerlicious

TORONTO — With Summerlicious in full swing, the prix-fixe resto celebration has some weary operators rejecting the promotion in favour of individualized approaches, Toronto Life reports.

While some consider the biannual city-organized tradition — that includes Winterlicious in the winter — a great way to expand business, others see it as a chore that invites cheapskate diners and lousy tippers.

Now, Toronto Life has found operators who are tired of city-mandated restrictions and are offering “Alternalicious” promos, including Susur Lee at Lee with his Susurlicious à la carte menu, Oro with a special $60 prix-fixe dinner menu and Splendido with a $99 five-course dinner.
