TORONTO — Cowbell Restaurant, a noted Toronto nose-to-tail hub, has closed.

“Over the past six years it has been a great honour to serve the Parkdale community. I’m proud to have served you the best of what Ontario has to offer, helping to introduce locally sourced, quality produce and nose-to-tail dining at the city’s tables,” said Mark Cutrara, the restaurant’s chef and proprietor, in a note posted on the restaurant’s door.

The restaurant was best known for its sustainably prepared fare, with a daily menu of items such as charcuterie, Monforte Dairy cheese, beet and apple salad and duck breast. According to Toronto’s Grid, business has been slow and Cutrara couldn’t push through the tough winter months.

Meanwhile, the proprietor has plans to cater and continue cooking with the Group of Seven Chefs.
