CHARLOTTETOWN — Tourism Charlottetown has denied giving preferential treatment to restaurant owner Kevin Murphy, CBC News reports.
The controversy began when the city tourism arm issued a press release detailing the opening of the board member and former president of Tourism Charlottetown’s new lounge, Marc’s Studio.
Mark Carr-Rollitt, director of Operations for Tourism Charlottetown, told the CBC he’ll send out press releases if a company requests it. “Kevin’s got businesses, and he has every right to send a press release just like anyone else does, so I don’st think it would be fair to exclude him,” he told the news outlet. “As I say, it’s not that he’s getting anything extra either.”
Kevin Murphy, owner of the Murphy Group of Restaurants, operates 13 restaurants in Charlottetown.
