TORONTO — PGA Tour golfer Graham DeLaet is teaming up with Turkey Farmers of Canada (TFC) for its seasonal marketing campaign, The Griller’s Bird. The campaign launched June 1 in celebration of National Turkey month.
The Griller’s Bird campaign, which is a part of a larger, five-year marketing campaign called Think Turkey, aims to showcase different ways to barbecue turkey using recipe inspiration from DeLaet and other barbecue influencers across Canada such as Max Lavoie.
“Growing up in Saskatchewan, my summers were happily spent golfing and grilling,” says DeLaet. “That’s why I’m thrilled to team up with Think Turkey this summer to share my passion for barbecue and why turkey is a regular on my home grill through some of my favourite recipes — from Texas-style turkey breast to smoked turkey legs.”
From June to August, recipes will be shared by campaign partners, such as grill experts, food bloggers, influencers and chefs, on the Think Turkey website and social-media channels. DeLaet will also be sharing his three favourite barbecued turkey recipes in a three-part video series.
The Griller’s Bird campaign will be broadcasted through several sports-media partners this month, including DAZN, Sportsnet, theScore and Rogers. In addition, Think Turkey will also be live in-market with a digital retail program at Walmart and IGA to help boost consumption.
“As we head into National Turkey Month, we’re excited to inspire more Canadians to try turkey on the grill,” says Darren Ference, Chair, Turkey Farmers of Canada. “Turkey is the perfect lean meat for barbecue season and can take on so many delicious flavours through marinating, basting, spices and rubs.”
Throughout the summer, a Griller’s Bird-themed giveaway will be hosted on Think Turkey’s social-media channels, rewarding winners with prizes from brand new barbecues to grilling merchandise and accessories.
