VANCOUVER — The second coming of Umberto Menghi’s Il Giardino in Vancouver is scheduled for this spring.

“Umberto Menghi is thrilled to announce he’s been busy creating his next legendary dining establishment. A new Giardino Restaurant is opening soon. The wait is almost over, and you can expect to hear more details from us,” the website reads.

The Pontedera, Tuscany-born chef closed the eatery in 2013 after 37 years, but he still continues to operate the two Whistler, B.C., restaurants Il Caminetto and Trattoria di Umberto. “In the back of my mind, I always knew my hiatus from the city was not to be forever,” Menghi was quoted as saying by straight.com. “It is in my blood.”

The new location will be steps away from Il Giardino’s original location, at 1328 Hornby St.
