Uncle Ben’s to Promote New Canadian Product Line with National Food Truck Challenge

TORONTO — Uncle Ben’s has issued a challenge to nine food trucks across Canada.

The Food Truck Challenge, which promotes the brand’s new Rice & Grain product, will see food truck operators in Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto compete to create the most delicious recipe using Uncle Ben’s newest offering, which pairs the company’s rice with ancient grains such as quinoa and couscous.

“Our team is always looking for ways to create gourmet flavours everyone can enjoy and Rice & Grains has been a strong addition,” says Nate Turnbull, head chef of participating food truck, The Food Dudes. “Canadians will be able to get creative in the kitchen with this product, just like we did with our recipe. We’re excited about serving it up at the event with our fellow Toronto food trucks, letting Canadians decide who cooked it best.”

Diner votes will determine the winning team, who will then be given the chance to travel across Canada this summer on the official Uncle Ben’s Rice & Grain Food Truck. Visitors who participate in the taste-testing will also be given copies of the recipes.

“We knew we could get creative with introducing a product as unique as Rice & Grains to Canadians,” says Kyle Lyons, segment director for the Uncle Ben’s brand. “The events happening in three of Canada’s biggest cities, with some of the best food trucks in the country, really help bring that to the table.”

The Food Truck Challenge will take place in Montreal on May 26, in Vancouver on June 7 and in Toronto on June 9. Throughout its summer tour, the official Uncle Ben’s Rice & Grain Food Truck will be making stops at the Canadian National Exhibition, Northwest Roundup and the Vancouver International Jazz Festival.
