VANCOUVER — Uno Gelato has opened its latest location at the Vancouver International Airport (YVR).

“We’re delighted with the tremendous popularity of Uno Gelato’s farm-to-cone approach to handcrafted gelato…,” says Mike Raffan, co-founder and managing partner of Uno Gelato. “As a B.C.-owned and operated small business, we’re honoured to be chosen by YVR to be their first frozen-treat commissary and excited to serve our ultra-premium gelato to YVR’s family of employees and to their 26-million annual travellers.”

The new location at YVR is the company’s fourth location to open in under a year. The company opened a store at the Vancouver Convention Centre last month and has a location at Stamps Landing in False Creek, B.C. Uno Gelato opened its first gelateria in Kitsilano, B.C. in August 2018.

The company also announced a new partnership with Avalon Dairy in the Fraser Valley to source its organic milk. Uno Gelato has also partnered with Tesfa Farms in Langley, B.C. for water-buffalo milk and Sweet Tree Ventures in Quesnel, B.C. for birch syrup — a natural sweetener.

“We’re fortunate to have such an abundance of farms and artisan producers nearby to source the natural ingredients that go into every serving of our gelato,” says Andrés Bermudez, maestro at Uno Gelato. “Each micro-batch of gelato is handmade and is only six litres in size, which enables us to be very creative with our offerings.”
